Malta’s iconic pastizz has officially been added to the Oxford English Dictionary, and the British High Commission Malta marked the moment in true local style with a bite of the beloved pastry.
Welcoming the January update, the High Commission said it was thrilled to see “pastizz” recognised, celebrating Malta’s culinary and linguistic contribution to the world and the shared heritage between the two nations.
The update also includes other Maltese favourites such as aljotta and bigilla, further putting local flavours on the global linguistic map.
